Detailed 3 Days Uganda Birding Tour
DAY 1: Arrival and Birding at Entebbe Botanical Gardens
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by our guide who will transfer you to your hotel for check-in. After settling in, you will embark on a birding tour of Entebbe Botanical Gardens.
The gardens are home to over 100 bird species, including the rare and elusive shoebill stork. Other bird species you are likely to see include African jacana, malachite kingfisher, and grey crowned crane. In the evening, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 2 : Birding at Mabamba Wetland and Lake Mburo National Park
After an early breakfast, you will head to Mabamba Wetland, located on the shores of Lake Victoria. This wetland is home to the famous shoebill stork, one of the most sought-after bird species in Uganda. Other bird species you are likely to see at Mabamba Wetland include papyrus gonolek, yellow-billed duck, and long-toed lapwing.
In the afternoon, you will head to Lake Mburo National Park, where you will go on a game drive and birding tour. Lake Mburo National Park is home to over 350 bird species, including the rare African finfoot, papyrus yellow warbler, and the brown-chested lapwing. You will return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3 : Birding at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its population of mountain gorillas. However, it is also an excellent birding spot, with over 350 bird species recorded in the park.
You will go on a birding tour of the park, where you will spot bird species such as the African green broadbill, Shelley’s crimsonwing, and the black-faced rufous warbler. In the afternoon, you will return to Kampala, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your departure flight.
