4 Days Uganda gorillas and chimpanzee trekking safari, is a breathtaking and extra ordinary safari where you will have an encounter with the major and popular attractions in Uganda. The 4 Days Uganda gorillas and chimpanzee trekking safari takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park which is one of the gorilla destinations in Africa harboring the highest number of the endangered mountain gorillas and Kibale national park which harbors the highest number of chimpanzees in Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable forest in located in southwestern Uganda in Kanungu district and is famously known due to the mountain gorillas which are found in four sectors that is Rushaga, Buhoma, Ruhija and Nkuringo sector.
Detailed 4 Days Uganda Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari
Day 1 :Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park
Depending on your location, our driver guide will pick you up, brief you about your 4 days Uganda gorillas and chimpanzee trekking safari in Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park and Kibale national park. you will then embark on the journey to Bwindi national park where you will pass via Masaka district, equator where you will a stopover for photos and then continue the journey which will be filled with spectacular views of the landscapes, roadside markets, craft shops, local people, great sceneries of the Kigezi hills and many others. On your way you will have a stopover at Igongo cultural centre where you will have lunch.
After lunch you will continue the journey passing via Ntungamo town, Kabale town as you continue to Buhoma sector in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park. Upon arrival you will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
On the second day of your 4 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will wake up early have breakfast at the lodge and with your packed lunch meet up with your driver guide and transfer to the park headquarters for the briefing about the expectations, rules and regulations of gorilla trekking.
After the briefing you will be grouped into 8 people to trek each habituated gorilla family and grouping of individuals is done according to personal interests, age and physical fitness therefore in case you are not physically fit you are advised to communicate with your driver guide so that they allocate you a gorilla family that is easy to trek.
At around 8:00am, you will start trekking in the jungle with a park guide and during trekking you will have views of the vegetation, tree species, bird species, other primates like the l’hoest monkeys among others. Gorilla trekking in the park takes about 30 minutes to 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are located and once they are found, you will have an opportunity of spending one hour with the gorillas in their natural habit learning more about their lifestyle, behaviors, taking photos with flash less camera, recording videos among other.
After having a face to face encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will hike back to the starting point where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking. You will meet up with your guide and transfer back to your lodge for an evening relaxation.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park
You will wake up have breakfast on the third day of your safari, check out of the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Kibale national park. You will pass via Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth national park where you will be able to view the tree climbing lions that will be lying up in the acacia fig tree branches.
After the game drive in Ishasha sector, you will have lunch and then continue the journey to fort portal and then Kibale national park. The journey takes about 6 to 7 hours’ drive and upon arrival you will check into the lodge, have dinner and overnight
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and departure to Kampala
On the last day of your 4 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will wake up have an early breakfast at the lodge and then meet up with your driver guide to transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing about the expectations, rules and regulations to follow during trekking.
After the briefing you will be grouped into 6 people and then start trekking in the jungle with a park guide who will be sharing information about the chimpanzees. Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest national park takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their location and once the chimpanzees have been located, you will spend one hour in the presence of the chimpanzees learning more about their life style, behaviors, watching them feeding, playing up in the trees as you record videos and take plenty of pictures with a flash less camera.
After the one hour with the chimpanzees, you will trek back to Kanyachu Visitors Centre, meet up with your driver guide and then start the journey back to Kampala. On your way you will have a stopover in Fort Portal for lunch and then proceed to Kampala where you will reach in the evening. Your driver guide will either drop you at the airport or at the lodge depending on your safari schedule.
