Best time to Go For Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

[/cz_title]

The best time to go gorilla trekking in Uganda is during the dry season, which runs from December to February and from June to September. During this time, the trails in the national parks are drier and easier to hike, which makes the trekking experience more enjoyable.

The dry season is also a good time to go gorilla trekking because the gorillas tend to stay in areas that are easily accessible, which means that the trekking time can be shorter. In addition, the dry season is a great time for photography, as the skies are clear and the lighting is ideal for capturing the beauty of the gorillas and their surroundings.

However, it’s important to note that gorilla trekking in Uganda can be done all year round, and each season has its own unique advantages. The rainy season, which runs from March to May and from October to November, can also be a good time for gorilla trekking, as the forests are lush and green, and the gorillas are more active.

1. When To Go For Gorilla Trekking during High Season

[/cz_title]

The High Seasons in Uganda happen in the months of January, February, June, July, August, September and December where there are lesser or no rains at all. Most travelers choose to travel during this season due to the positive weather that favors the gorilla trekking activity. Due to such a good season, there is always high demand for the gorilla permits which requires you to pay for your gorilla permit(s) in advance (like 7 months before) so that we can book for you the permits prior to your arrival. The dry season is perfect for trekking mountain gorillas though very expensive and luxurious for budget travelers. And still, since the mountain gorillas live in weathered regions with raised landscape, this kind of weather make the climate cool all year round despite some thoughtful leg labor.

2. Gorilla Trekking during Low season

[/cz_title]

Also Known as Rainy seasons: (March to May and September to November)

During these months, it is usually misty and wet. And it can sometimes drizzle for days. These are the best month for bird watching because there are migratory birds in the park during this time. Gorillas can also be tracked during this time although the access roads may be hard to travel and the trails become slippery making the tracking quite difficult. Some camps and lodges might be closed especially between March and May. Warm clothing is very necessary during this season.

More still, with less people trekking mountain gorillas in the low season, the few who trek are allocated to different gorilla families, which provide them with close interaction without congestion. However despite the advantages during this season, rains make trekking difficult. The grounds become slippery and muddy, together with the showers and droplets, which wet trekkers.
